Things have changed since I was a baby sitting on the pews of an Apostolic/Pentecostal church in the 80s. How we behave, believe, and express those beliefs, contribute to the culture. Although all churches have their own unique culture, as the Body of Christ, we have a shared way of gathering, evangelizing, worshipping, and expressing our faith regardless of denomination.
Pews, choirs, and Sunday School hardly exist anymore. Evolving and adapting to the times is necessary, but is church culture becoming toxic? Are sermons reaching the lost, are Christians educated and armed for battle, is the next generation being equipped? Has the Western Church handled the political climate, #MeToo Movement, and social justice movement with grace? Perhaps the 40 million+ people who have left The Church in the past 25 years would answer these questions differently from those who have remained.
I don’t have all the answers. So, I look forward to sharing my findings through research and having guests provide their expertise and perspective through podcast appearances and/or contributions to newsletters.
